Day 20- Port Hawkesbury to Halifax Nova Scotia

The day was not as clear and beautiful as we have been having, which was a bit of a disappointment as our drive was along the southeastern  coast of Nova Scotia.
Michael and Patsy skipped the scenic run and headed straight to Halifax for a Morgan oil change.
We traveled along with Stan and Jen in their "Mustang Forgan".
After Egg McMuffins we headed westerly, then south cross the Province. Our coffee stop was in Sherbrooke at Beanie's Cafe. Most of the group had just completed their coffee stop as we arrived. We were encouraged to eat the baked dish which just came of of the oven, but managed to skip it.

While we had Sherbrooke Village as a potential stopping point, they had closed for the winter. However they were cleaning out the buildings, so we were allowed to walk around. The "cleaner outers" were very nice and willing to explain things to us about this 1800's village. The Nova Scotia Museums had bought up all the old houses in this area and are in the process of restoring them, so it was a real town.

We continued driving along the coast, but the weather was such that we didn't take many photos.

As it seems we eat frequently, we stopped at this Il Porto in Sheet Harbour for lunch. They advertised Lobster Sandwiches, so of course that is what we had here. It seems that we again followed a big group of Morganers for lunch and the restaurant was just recuperating from them.

Continuing along the highway, we made it to Halifax mid afternoon, in plenty of time to make it to Chickenburger for our get together with the Halifax British Car Club.
Bridge to Halifax
Before we headed to the event, Ken called and reported that he had an accident. Someone stopped quickly in front of him as he approached the bridge, and he was ALMOST able to avoid hitting that car. Unfortunately, it was determined that his Morgan is not quickly fixable, so it will be shipped home, and he will hire a car for some of the trip. It seems that Michael and Patsy will need to cut short the trip for business reasons, so Ken will probably take over their Morgan and get it back to the West Coast for Michael.  (I don't have a photo).

It seems that Chickenburger is a gathering place for car groups. Tonight we had not only the British Car Club, but also the hot rods. Philip really loved looking at the cars, as did all the guys who attended.

Barry and Gene arrived late to the event, as they had broken down with a broken hose. They sat along the remote highway (off route) until a fisherman came along, who stopped, then went back to his boat to pick up a hose that Barry was able to use to replace the broken radiator hose.

Some of us had Chickenburger, with very mixed reviews. Others had "basic" hamburgers. Frankly, it is amazing they survive based on the food. We were not impressed.

We returned to the Courtyard for a "Shout" by Grant- that is drinks for the house.

So sorry to hear of the crash. Was that Ken Miles, or another Ken? Which model Morgan was he driving? Hope nobody was hurt.

Carry on, regardless...

Slainte,
