As each couple was assigned a travel day to do a writeup describing "their" day, and present it at the final banquet, I have a little help in completing postings by using their writeup. While my photos probably don't match their writeup, I will insert where relatively appropriate, and then add my "two cents worth" at the end. Canadians Ken and Marion had Day 13 in lovely Quebec City.

"This was one of the
highlights for us - a very magical city! Made all the more magical by staying
in the Chateau Frontenac.

Our day started at 7am with
a brisk walk down to Paillards where we waited for them to open, our mouths
watering for the delicious croissant straight out of their huge oven.
|
Palliards |
From
there we walked up to the Plains of Abraham Battlefield Park where we took in
the awesome view, then on up to the Citadel and Fortifications.

Miles and miles of walking
today. Down all the steps to Lower Town where we listened to a harpist in Place
Royale, Petit Champlain.
We continued on to the waterfront, then back up the
steps. By now it was time for a rest which we had in The Fort Museum watching
the 30 minute sound and light show.
We visited the first
Anglican Cathedral in Canada - Holy Trinity. At night you can see the ringing
of the bells through the lit up window. This is one of seven English Change
Ringing Towers in Canada.

This is definitely the town
for crepes. We found delicious ones at the Little Corner of Brittany
restaurant, where the waitresses were dressed in traditional costume.
In the evening we walked
the Governer's Walk (300 steps!) up to the Plains of Abraham, and ended our day
in a French restaurant in the delightful company of Barry and Gene."
Philip and I first took the Hop On/Hop Off Bus tour of the city with many others from our MOA group.

We met Michael and Patsy upon our return, and then spent the day touring around with them.
We started off by having lunch at our Hotel Frontenac's Bistro le Sam, with a table overlooking the river. This had been recommended by people in Trip Advisor. We have to agree it was wonderful.

Upon leaving the hotel, Patsy informed us that she just loved the boutique in the hotel, so we had better look there before heading out on the town. She found many items to "shop and ship", and we ended up with matching scarves. If I looked as good in clothes and hats as Patsy, I too would have purchased more.

We took the Funicular down to and back up from Lower Town, preferring to save our limited energy for more walking around.

Being tired, we stopped at the corner cafe for a wine, and visiting with MOAers who walked by us.

We then headed with Patsy and Michael and (I believe) Joan and Keith to have dinner at the Conti Cafe. It had been recommended to us by people on Trip Advisor and "the French MOAer". We found the service lacking and the food not good. Attempts to speak with the owner about it almost landed us in jail.

Pretty, expensive, cold and not much |
Quebec city is a beautiful city, and everyone had a grand day here.
